Five special Cool Pools made their debut today in NYC—and one's in Harlem.
As part of a pilot program, the city's Parks Department gave glossy makeovers to outdoor pools in each borough.
Harlem's Sheltering Arms pool on Amsterdam Avenue and 129th Street was the pick in Manhattan.
None of the pools—all are medium-sized and in underserved neighborhoods—had been renovated since they were first built in the 1970s, according to the Parks Department.
The changes at the Sheltering Arms Pool are simple but dramatic: bright yellows and blues add summery cheer to the main building, while modern chairs and umbrellas invite swimmers to lounge by the pool.
Cool graphic art—beachballs and popsicles—decorate the surrounding chain link fence.
"We wanted to make these sites warmer and more inviting, so we made targeted improvements," a Parks Department spokeswoman told amNY.
Take a look for yourself—and get ready for some seriously beachy vibes.
