• The city approved a plan to add bike lanes and other safety improvements to a dangerous stretch of Amsterdam Avenue between 110th and 155th Streets. • The Tribeca Film Festival kicked off at the Apollo Theater last night with the premiere of a documentary honoring the 85-year-old institution. Directed by Roger Ross Williams, "The Apollo" focuses on the iconic theater's history as a mecca of African-American culture. It will air on HBO in the fall. [NY Times]
• Ozwald Boateng, the first black designer to open a business on London's Savile Row–he was also the creative director for Givenchy menswear and designed costumes for "Black Panther"–will cross the pond to stage his first womenswear collection at the Apollo Theater.
