A New Starbucks Is Coming to Hamilton Heights in Harlem—Almost 20 Years After the Last One Closed

Starbucks is opening a new store at 550 W 145th Street near Broadway.

Starbucks in Hamilton Heights, take two.

The coffee chain is set to open a new location at 550 W 145th Street in the old Brand's Wine & Liquor space on Monday, November 27, according to a sign posted on the front door.

That’s a little more than 20 years after Starbucks first opened a location on Broadway between 138th and 139th Streets (back then in partnership with the Magic Johnson Foundation), promptly closing two years later.

Since then the chain, famous for its sweet coffee drinks like the Caramel Frappuccino and Pumpkin Spice Latte, has opened stores across Harlem and Washington Heights, including one down the hill on 145th and Bradhurst Avenue in Central Harlem.

But it hasn't returned to Broadway in Hamilton Heights, a subsection of Harlem that runs from W 135th to W 155th Streets—until now.

The new store opens on Monday, November 27 at 8am, according to the sign.

A peek through the window at 550 W 145th Street reveals the new location will have indoor seating, including a row of wooden tables and chairs in front of the bar.

The notice on the door, with the tag line "A coffeehouse to call your own," says the store opens at 8am.
