The old Hamilton Theater lobby, built in 1913 and the pride of Hamilton Heights, is finally getting a second retail tenant after remaining empty for many years.

Snipes, the sneaker and athletic wear company based out of Germany, will be opening in the landmarked corner space at 3560 Broadway and W 146th Street.

Posters have started cropping up in the neighborhood, and a recent peek through the windows on Broadway revealed Snipes-branded boxes being unpacked.

Spectrum took over the north retail space in 2019, but the location next door has been dormant for many years. (Spirit Halloween was a past tenant, as was El Mundo).

The lobby and the adjacent theater, which many locals hope may be redeveloped one day, were designed by architect Thomas Lamb.

The lobby exterior—complete with 18 cast-iron caryatids that are currently obscured by scaffolding—was designated a landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2000.

Update 10/9: The store's grand opening is February 10.
