A starter list of uptown organizations fighting hunger

Updated: Jan 3, 2021

As the biggest food holiday of the year approaches and the pandemic rages on, you might be wondering how to help those struggling to put food on the table.

Thankfully, many uptown organizations running food pantries and food-relief events welcome donations (and in some cases, even volunteer opportunities).

Here's a starter list:

Youth organization providing emergency food distributions on 143rd Street every Wednesday.

Washington Heights-based community development organization running a weekly food pantry on 159th Street.

Offering free daily meals and more on 116th Street.

Harlem-based organization supplying locally-grown produce and nutrition education to the community.

East Harlem-based pantry working to reduce hunger and food insecurity.

Serving the vulnerable in East Harlem through services including food distributions.
