The revamp has tripled the size of the square by expanding into what was once Hamilton Place between Broadway and W 138th Street.

The triangular Broadway park features a new terraced lawn lined with benches, a small plaza with a booth and water fountain, plus newly-planted saplings throughout.

Construction has been underway since the fall of 2016, when the city first began major improvements to the underground infrastructure, including the installation of new water mains.

The city officially announced plans to renovate and expand Montefiore Square in 2019.

Now that all of the work is complete, the larger space could be used for community festivals, performances and green markets.
