Baylander Steel Beach, a new waterfront restaurant on a former Navy ship, opens tomorrow in Harlem

Updated: Nov 7, 2020

Baylander Steel Beach, a new waterfront restaurant and bar, is opening on a former U.S. Navy ship.

A new restaurant and bar is opening this Thursday on the deck of the Baylander, a decommissioned U.S. Navy ship moored at the West Harlem Piers on 125th Street.

Baylander Steel Beach will serve casual pub grub and trendy cocktails such as frosés and Palomas, according to sneak-peek menus posted last week.

The waterfront destination is from the team behind Prohibition on the Upper West Side.

Although there's also a covered lower level, only the exposed-to-the-elements top deck will be open for now due to social distancing measures.

Last summer a cafe seemed to be coming to the vessel, but that never happened.

The Baylander is also the site of a Billion Oyster Project research station, part of a plan to restore New York's waterways.
