Chipotle just opened its second location in Washington Heights.
The store occupies a high-profile corner: 3781 Broadway and W 157th Street, right outside the 1 train station. The space was most recently a Boston Market, and before that a Twin Donut.
A report last year said the burrito maker was looking to expand in New York. After analyzing cell phone data and social media geotagging, the chain narrowed its search to Hamilton Heights and "Washington Heights South," two areas with growing populations of millennials.
This is Chipotle's fourth branch above 96th Street. It also opened its first Harlem location in 2018.
