City College students will have one place less to grab a coffee when they return to campus, whenever that may be (summer courses will be conducted online).
The Double Dutch Espresso located at 1616 Amsterdam Avenue between W 139th and W 140th Streets–directly opposite CCNY's neo-Gothic main campus in Hamilton Heights–has closed for good, an employee at its sister location in Central Harlem confirmed.
The tiny storefront initially shut its doors at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in March, but now the shelves in the front are empty and its professional espresso machine is gone.
The stylish cafe debuted in the spring of 2015 as Filtered, but took on the name of its sister store in 2018.
The storefront at 2194 Frederick Douglass Boulevard remains open.
