Columbia Business School's shiny new Manhattanville campus is opening later this month—in 18 days, to be precise—but you can already take a walk through the area and see what's in store.
Located between Broadway and 12th Avenue from 130th to 131st Streets—just one block from the Hudson River—the grounds feature two glossy new buildings by architectural firm Diller Scofidio & Renfro, whose work elsewhere in the city includes landmarks like the High Line and the Shed at Hudson Yards.
The 11-story, all-glass Henry R. Kravis Hall sits right up against the arches of the Riverside Drive Viaduct on 12th Avenue and has views of the the Hudson River (five retail spaces are in the works).
The second building, the eight-floor David Geffen Hall, is located midway between Broadway and 12th Avenue.
Between them is a circular green space dotted with sleek benches, picnic tables and bedlike platforms that will be fully accessible to the public once the temporary fencing is removed (winter hours will be 7am-8pm, according to a sign).
Until that day, grab a seat on the edge of the park and take in the impressive new designs without the crowds.
Been wondering when they would open up. Thanks for the update!
