Target's new Washington Heights location, the first in the neighborhood, is finally here.
The chain's familiar bullseye logo now hangs outside the large entrance at 602 W 181st Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, and the doors are open.
The official grand opening is set for this Sunday, August 15. To mark the occasion, the store will be giving away 1,000 reusable bags, according to a Target spokesperson.
The new uptown location, which replaced a Modell's, is one of the chain's growing number of small-format stores.
Elevators and escalators lead to a 25,000-square-foot upper level, featuring a mix of apparel and accessories, health and beauty products, home decor, and groceries specially curated for the neighborhood.
The store also features an order pickup area, and a CVS Pharmacy is coming soon.
Target now has a total of 11 stores in Manhattan, including 10 small-format stores ranging from the East Village to the Upper West Side.
Happy Target is in Washington Heights, but very disappointed it has limited merchandise. I thought Target would be large like store located at 225th Street in the Bronx. I thought Target was also taking over space on Street level stores that are empty. Still have to go to Riverdale store for full shopping experience fo clothes, houseware, automotive, "supermarket," electronics, baby & toddler clothes and furniture, bath shop, etc. I feel the Heights store to me feels like a beauty supply store. Sorry but that's how I feel. Still have to go to Riverdale where you can find just about anything.
